Dual band Quasi-Yagi-Uda antenna array for wireless applications

In this research, a dual band Quasi-Yagi-Uda antenna array (1×2) for wireless applications is carried out. The proposed antenna consists of two Quasi-Yagi-Uda elements and a perfectly matched corporate feed network. The proposed antenna exhibits resonance at 2.5 GHz and 3.3 GHz and yields dual band nature in 2.480-2.605 GHz (125 MHz) and 3.227-3.666 GHz (439 MHz). Driven and director elements of the array antenna enhance an antenna gain up to 9 dB from 5 dB of single element antenna. The proposed antenna shows directional radiation patterns with 6.6 dB and 9 dB gain at 2.5 GHz and 3.3 GHz, respectively. Radiation efficiency of 84% and 93% at 2.5 GHz and 3.3 GHz, respectively has been obtained for the proposed antenna. The antenna geometry is designed and simulated by means of EM tool high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS). Moreover, obtained simulated results of the proposed antenna are compared with recently published works. A sufficient frequency ratio (1.32) between lower and higher resonating band makes the antenna suitable for multiband applications.
