Performance and Advantages of Bifacial Half-Cut Cell Solar Panels

The primary objective of this paper is to offer a comprehensive view on the PV power plants performance enhancements and operational advantages attained through the integration of PV half-cut cell and bifacial technologies. By combining bifacial solar modules and half-cut cell technology, this research aims to assess how much the bifacial capability, harvesting sunlight on both the front and rear surfaces of the module, is enhanced. It also evaluates how the benefits of half-cut cells, such as reduced ohmic losses and improved shade tolerance, contribute to overall energy production, efficiency, and reliability of solar modules. In addition, the paper seeks to evaluate the operation of these integrated technologies under variable environmental conditions, i.e., various irradiance levels, and temperature regimes to assess its feasibility for extensive applications in utility-scale and residential solar PV systems.
