PlayVRehab - Kinect Serious Game for Physical Rehabilitation
This work presents PlayVRehab, a serious game platform for limb rehabilitation that uses virtual reality and the Azure Kinect sensor as a natural user interface. This system complements the traditional physiotherapy methods by combining engaging virtual reality scenarios while also providing performance assessment. The virtual reality training scenario was developed using Unity 3D and was tailored to serve as a lower limb rehabilitation. A cloud-based data analysis was also implemented. Metrics such as joint positions, execution times, and limb usage are processed and displayed through a Web Interface that supports user management, parameter configuration, and process monitoring. Usability evaluations show the potential of a prototype as a semi-immersive virtual reality tool for motor training with integrated data analysis and visualisation capabilities.
