Sensitive analysis of Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine for EV Propulsion System: tooth tips shape

This paper investigates the influence of the tooths tips geometry on peak electromagnetic torque and torque ripple content of an axial flux electric machine with two rotors and one stator. The analyzed configuration consists of 18 stator slots and 12 poles, utilizing concentrated windings and surface mounted permanent magnet. The study aims to compare an initial structure without tooth tips with several modified variants where tooth tips with adjusted geometries were added to reduce torque ripples variations and enhance system performance. The simulations are conducted in a 3D environment using JMAG software, enabling a detailed analysis of the magnetic field distribution and the impact of different tooth tips shapes on the machine’s electromagnetic behavior.
