Comparative Analysis of Complete Demagnetization in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Topologies
This paper examines the effects of local irreversible demagnetization faults, applied to one pole and two poles, on the performance of three topologies of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs): Surface-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (SPMSM), Inset Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM), and Spoke- Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (SIPMSM). The analysis focuses on cogging torque, electromagnetic torque, back-induced electromotive force (back-induced EMF), and magnetic flux density in the air gap for healthy and locally demagnetized permanent magnets. The results provide valuable insights into the considerations necessary for advancing online condition monitoring systems aimed at the early detection and mitigation of permanent magnets issues and the identification of the affected magnets.
